DUALITY
JEWEL CASE DESIGN
I.M is a Korean musical artist who is known for being one of the two rappers in the K-pop group Monsta X. He released a solo mini-album called Duality in February 2021. The album was only released as a digital EP. As K-pop albums are known for their extensive design and the extras that come with the packaging, this was a personal project to imagine what a physical copy of this EP release might look like.
The design was inspired by the official digital album art (shown above) and used elements from the original work as well as imagery/screenshots from the music video that accompanies the title track God Damn to create a cohesive link between the
real release and the imagined packaging in the hopes of making the pretend product appear as authentic as possible.
In following the example of other K-pop albums, I used screenshots from the music video to create a lyric and photobook as well as selfies of the artist found on his social media to create photo cards that might accompany the album, as these are often collected by avid fans.
The "posters" were not created by me; they were part of the official release campaign for the digital EP.
